Q. What is the teacher to student ratio at Skiatook Public Schools?
A. We strive to keep our classes at a 1:20-23 teacher to student ratio. In the lower elementary, we have full day assistants in the classroom, in addition to the classroom teacher.
Q. What is a proficiency test and how do I schedule my child to take it?
A. The proficiency tests are given twice a year, once in early August and once in late May. The purpose of the proficiency test is to allow students who wish to advance through a course or grade by showing proficiency in the subject material, or those coming from an unaccredited private school or home school. The school counselors administer the tests and the school counselors will notify the parents/guardians of the results. To schedule your child for a test, please come by the Service Center at 355 S. Osage and ask for a proficiency test permission form. This requires parent/guardian signatures, which allows Skiatook Public Schools to test your child. You may also download a permission form and return it to the Service Center or email the completed form with signature (scanned copy) to jparkhurst@skiatook.k12.ok.us. Please make sure you have returned the permission form at least two days before the scheduled test date. If you have further questions call 396-1792.
Q. What if I have a question about student enrollement, scheduling, or report cards?
A. Any questions about enrollment/schedules/report cards should be directed toward the individual school site, since each one handles this differently.
