Skiatook Public School District believes that early
childhood education is the foundation of a child's education.
Our goal is to provide our students with a healthy and happy
school experience in a safe environment.
The Early Childhood Program is half-day, with three classes
in the morning and three in the afternoon. Morning classes
meet from 8:00 to 11:00, and afternoon from 12:00 to 2:40. Each
class is taught by a certified early childhood teacher and a
full-time assistant. The Early Childhood Program is open to
children residing in the Skiatook Public School District who
are 4 years old by September 1. Class size is limited.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. When
classes are full, your child will be put on a waiting list.
The following information is required at the time of
enrollment:
- Child's birth certificate
- Child's immunization history
- Residency verification form from the Education Service
Center at 355 S Osage Street
- CDIB or Indian identification card (if applicable)
Learning activities in early childhood involve both work
and play. Children develop imagination and social skills in
pretend-play activities. Basic concepts in health, language,
math, reading readiness, science, and social studies are
taught through developmentally appropriate weekly units. In
addition, field trips and other special activities allow
families to participate in the children's school experience.
We also house a daycare for staff and students while they
are attending school. There are three classrooms and we are
currently a 2 star center.
The Early Childhood Center also houses OPAT (Oklahoma
Parents As Teachers). This program is for 0-3 year olds.
It is a home-based program. If you are interested in
information about OPAT, please contact Amy
Nail @ 396-5730.
