Welcome to another
great year at Newman Middle School. Last year was a
huge success, and I am constantly amazed at the high
quality of individuals and students that walk through
our doors each day. We are blessed to have great
students, great teachers, and great facilities.
Our school has been
designated as a “Title I school wide” school. This
means that every student at Newman Middle School
will get extra assistance in Math and Reading. Our
program utilizes computer software that helps to
remediate those students that need help getting to grade
level and enriches and pushes the students that are at,
or above grade level.
Last year we started a
tradition of adopting a theme for the year. Last year’s
theme was YMCA – Young Minds Create & Achieve. We tried
to recognize students for being outstanding in the areas
of: Academics, Arts, Attitude, Activities, &/or
Athletics. These areas constitute our Five – A’s. This
year we are continuing the tradition and are proud to
have the New Orleans style theme of “Laissez Toutes les
A’s Rouler”. This translates into “Let the Straight A’s
Roll”. Everything we do this year will revolve around
our theme of the Five – A’s.
We continue to monitor
our progress in all areas including test scores. We
would like to remind our patrons that test scores are
only one aspect of a school’s overall success. We take
great pride in helping to develop all areas of our
students’ lives. This can be summed up by our mission
statement, located on this web site. We are very
excited about the upcoming year and are proud to be a
part of the Skiatook Public School System. GO DAWGS!
