Bulldog Proud

Our schools are an integral part of the community. Over the past ten years, Skiatook High School has grown from around 500 students to over 750. Fifty teachers and an additional fifty staff make up the adult population of the school. Skiatook High School is known for caring about students and encouraging their success.
Excellence in Academics

Skiatook High School is certified by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools. All of our teachers are highly qualified and certified by the state of Oklahoma in their subject areas. Many of them hold master’s degrees, and two of our teachers are Nationally Board Certified. In 2008-2009 students scored satisfactory or above in the following areas: English II (79%), English III (80%), Geometry (83%), Algebra I (81%), Algebra II (80%), Biology I (82%), and US History (70%). Our teachers have developed curriculum maps and benchmark test students throughout each semester. Students are rewarded each year for good scores on EOI’s with an annual pancake breakfast hosted by the teachers for students who make satisfactory or above on their tests. Also, the school uses a program called SMART (Students Making Achievement a Reality Today) which rewards students with good grades by giving them an early release on Friday afternoons. The remaining students (those with D’s, F’s, or any zeroes from the past week) stay for tutoring, remediation, and to complete make-up work.
Active Students

Research shows that students involved in extra-curricular activities on average have stronger grade point averages. The majority of our students are involved in one or more of the following: academic team, athletics, band, choir, drama, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, photography, student council, or yearbook—to name a few. Our students regularly compete and score well in competitions across the state. Each year we have students or teams who win regional competitions and compete in state competitions.
Keeping You Safe

Skiatook High School encourages safe-school practices. We have a caring faculty and staff, a full-time student resource officer, two assistant principals, and three counselors. Students participate in community volunteering, fundraisers, and donation drives to help families in need. Our school partners with area business groups and churches. We educate our students on the harmful effects of poor choices, and we have strong enforcement of school rules. The school has drug testing policies for athletes and drug testing policies for all students if reasonable suspicion exists. As a result, student incidents involving violence or drug use have been very low over the past number of years. Students know that the school will help them when they are in need and will hold them accountable to maintain high standards.
Welcome to School

Skiatook High School is attractive and welcoming. Principals and counselors greet students each year in student meetings and personally cover school expectations with all students. Freshman parents and students are invited to orientation meetings before school begins, and an open house is hosted prior to the start of school. Student handbooks not only cover policies and procedures but also are used as calendars, hall passes, and planners. A great custodial staff takes enormous pride in keeping the school clean. Botany students serve as landscaping helpers and plants managers for the campus place beautiful plants at front entrances and hallways during warm seasons. Students of the month are recognized as well as teachers of the month. A colorful and informative newsletter is sent out to all parents monthly keeping them informed of school events, and the school website is updated with calendar events as well. Student Council organizes monthly spirit rallies that recognize successes in academic and extra-curricular activities and encourage school spirit. Skiatook High School is here to serve students.
