The Art students and Mrs. Gardner would like to thank the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation and The Neighbors Family for providing an Art Grant to Skiatook Intermediate Elementary. With the Neighbors Art Grant we purchased 31 Art kits for Art projects. The students are so excited that our art department is expanding with more hands on projects. The students and I will be able to incorporate the Art kits into their core curriculum. We cannot thank the Neighbors Family and the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation enough for you support. Third grade students and teachers would like to thank the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation for awarding us with an $860.45 grant to purchase an Insect Library, Interactive Science games and Interactive Science Activities to enhance our Science curriculum. Each library set targets a different concept with full color interactive charts and includes moving graphics, optional narration, and fun filled games and printable worksheets to enhance our Science curriculum. It also offers a quiz mode so that teachers can reinforce what the students have learned. The titles included in the set cover The Human Skeleton, The Water Cycle, Classification of Animals, Forces, Rocks, Scientific Inquiry, Solids, Liquids, Gases, and The Solar System. They are designed to work with our interactive white boards and would be a useful tool to use to engage our students in Science lesson. We are very excited about receiving the grant and can’t wait to incorporate the books and interactive activities into our lessons. Thank you Skiatook Public School Support Foundation for helping us make a difference in education.

Skiatook Intermediate Library Receives Grant from the

 Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation

For the second time this year, the SIE library has been awarded a grant from the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation.  Mrs. Sharon Cooper, SIE Librarian, said the grant, titled “Who Said They Won’t Read!” allowed the library to add 28 books to the nonfiction section. They were able to add four books from the Strange but True series: Animals, Science, Sports, and Weather. Three books were added from the World’s Greatest Sports Players series: Baseball players, Basketball players, and Football players. Also added were three books about the history of weapons: Weapons of the American Indians, Weapons of the Cold War, and Weapons of the Modern-Day. The last series from which books were added was the Truth and Rumors series with U. S. Presidents, Sports, the Titanic, and Ghosts. Rounding out the list were books about the human body, survival, deer hunting, freshwater fishing, skateboarding, and balloon twisting. Mrs. Cooper says, “Students are always asking for books on these subjects so I know these books will be popular additions to our collection. If a library offers books the students want, they will read!”  THANK YOU FOUNDATION!
