2011-12 Dress Code
Questions about the dress code should be referred to the principal.
Exceptions to the dress code may be permitted by the administration,
for example, for medical, activity, sports, or organizational reason.
Final decisions about any dress code violation will be at the discretion
of the administrator.
In general:
- A student must dress neatly and with discretion
- Hair must be neat, clean, not distracting and of a natural colorwith the exception of a colored streak in the hair not to exceed two (2) inches in width.
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Students with a dress code violation will be disciplined on the third offense.
The following are NOT permitted:
-Hats or other headgear inside the building.
-Skirts and shorts any shorter than a maximum of six inches (length of dollar bill) above the knee. The skirt shall be measured from the floor while student is in a kneeling position.
-Spandex shorts, inappropriately split shorts, and shorts made of form fitting or stretch material are not to be worn as an outer garment. Apparel worn under an outer garment does not affect the appropriateness of its length.
-See-through clothing.
-Sleeveless tops with shoulder straps of less than two inches. Inappropriately low necklines are not permitted. These include
scoop tops and off-the-shoulder tops.
-Bare midriffs when standing or sitting. No skin should show between the bottom of the shirt and the top of the skirt or pants.
-Clothing or jewelry that is distracting or highly conspicuous.
-Clothing or jewelry that may be associated with gangs.
-Clothing or jewelry that is a safety hazard (for example, hanging chains).
-Clothing, jewelry, or tattoos that are suggestive or symbolic of drugs, alcohol, sex, or any illegal or immoral activity
-Chains
-Clothing with any rips or tears over 6 inches above the knee.
-Leggings can only be worn with other dress code appropriate clothing.
-Sunglasses or eyewear that is distracting.
-Body piercing except to the ears and/or small nose stud.
