Spirit of Excellence Award

This award recognizes people that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

Thank you for going above and beyond to make our district one of excellence.

 

February 2019 Recipient,

Sally Hammontree

 

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Sally Hammontree has been named the February 2019, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

Mrs. Hammontree is an Adminstrative Assistant at Marrs Elementary.  She realizes that a student’s educational experience begins at Marrs Elementary and she strives to make the transition from home to school a positive one to promote a love of learning.  Her favorite quote is from Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

 

January 2019 Recipient,

Tabitha Hendryx

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Tabitha Hendryx has been named the January 2019, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

Tabitha is a parent that serves as the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) President at Marrs Elementary.  She works tirelessly to ensure that Marrs is cared for through PTO.  Tabitha has 3 children at Skiatook and wants to “support all of our excellent teachers and give back her time.”  She has a quote by Charles Dickens that inspires her to go the extra mile, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.”

 

December 2018 Recipient,

Skiatook Police Department

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that the Skiatook Police Department has been named the December 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

The Skiatook Police Department works hard to keep our students safe.  During this school year, space has been provided at each site for officers to complete paperwork during the school day.  The unique concept allows an increased police presence at all sites.  The police department was also instrumental in providing an Active Shooter Training and Stop the Bleed Training during our August Back to School Professional Development Day.   

 

 

November 2018 Recipient,

Hoot Webb

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Hoot Webb has been named the November 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

Hoot is a part of the grounds crew.  He spends the spring and summer mowing the school grounds and also lends a helping hand wherever that is needed.  When he is not taking care of the grounds he volunteers at the school as a way of “paying it forward.”  He believes that good people make good places, and there are a lot of good people at Skiatook Schools.  

 

October 2018 Recipient,

Mike Canavan

 

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Mike Canavan has been named the October 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

Mike is a part of the Skiatook Schools Custodial Staff at Skiatook Elementary and Skiatook Intermediate Elementary.  He keeps our schools clean and safe simply because it is the right thing to do.  He focuses on completing tasks right the first time while always taking the time to have a smile on his face.  He always has a great attitude no matter the task at hand.

 

September 2018 Recipient,

Emily Groeneveld

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Emily Groeneveld has been named the September 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.” 

 

Ms. Emily is a part of the Marrs Elementary Custodial Staff.  She not only keeps Marrs Elementary a clean learning environment, she goes out of her way to give a smile or high-five to students who look like they could use some encouragement.  She gives more of herself than her expected duties because the students deserve the best that she can give.

 

April 2018 Recipient,

Joyce Jech

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Joyce Jech has been named the April 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.”  The 2017-18 school year is the first year for this award.

 

Ms. Jech is a community member that has continued to support Skiatook Public Schools after retiring from serving as a school teacher and principal for 44 years.  When she retired she decided it was time for her to give back to the school system that was so good to her.  She volunteers when needed and serves on the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation.  She continues to fight for public education, our school system, teachers, and students.

 

March 2018 Recipient,

Roxanne McGrew

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Roxanne McGrew has been named the March 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.”  The 2017-18 school year is the first year for this award.

 

Roxanne is a part of the custodial staff at Skiatook High School.  She is very dedicated and cares greatly for students and the safety of our children.  She works hard to keep things looking nice and takes great pride in her work.  Roxanne believes that we should all take pride in our school and home town.

 

February 2018 Recipient,

Angela Foster

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Angela Foster has been named the February 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.”  The 2017-18 school year is the first year for this award.

 

Mrs. Foster is a Psychology and Sociology teacher at Skiatook High School.  She has exemplified excellence through the Skiatook Bulldog Tree initiative.  She started the Bulldog Tree in 2012 with her Sociology classes adopting a family for Christmas to provide presents and food.  Today, the initiative has grown with the participation of the entire student body at Skiatook High School.  The Bulldog Tree has reached almost 200 families in the Skiatook community over the past five years.

 

January 2018 Recipient,

Mike Mullins

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Mike Mullins has been named the January 2018, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.”  The 2017-18 school year is the first year for this award.

 

Mr. Mullins is a community member that assists Skiatook Schools in many capacities.  He serves as a School Board member.  Mike helps the Skiatook High School Football program by tracking team stats.  He also facilitates the Friday BackPack Program that provides food for Skiatook students.  Mike will always believe in the future of Skiatook Public Schools.  He gives back to our students, the future of the Skiatook community.

 

December 2017 Recipient, 

Shellie Beard

Skiatook Public Schools is proud to announce that Shellie Beard has been named the December 2017, Spirit of Excellence Award winner.  This award recognizes parents, community members, or staff members that exemplify Skiatook Public Schools Vision Statement, “Excellence in Action.”  The 2017-18 school year is the first year for this award.

 

Ms. Beard is a parent that volunteers at both of the schools that her children attend.  She is active in the Skiatook Public Schools Support Foundation, school Parent Teacher Organizations, and Booster Clubs.  She spends her time volunteering because she wants every child’s experience at Skiatook Schools to be the best possible.
