COVID-19 Summer Activities Info

Outline for Summer 2020 Activities

During each phase each person entering the facility, including outdoor activities, must have their temperature checked upon arrival.  Any individual with a temperature registering 100.4 degrees or above must not be permitted to stay. A release note from an MD or DO will be required to return.

Phase I:        June 15- June 26

Students sign in daily; sign in acknowledges agreement with COVID-19 guidelines (Fever Free, minimized exposure, etc.). Sign-in sheets will be maintained throughout the summer.

  • Coaches may have face-to-face contact with student athletes using the provisions provided below.
  • No team practice is permitted.
  • One-on-One instruction is permitted, including non-athletic activities.
  • Strength and conditioning is permitted.
  • No camps, clinics, or leagues may be conducted during phase one.

Weight Room:

  • Handwashing procedures should be used before and after workouts.
  • One restroom at each site will be designated for use.  Locker rooms will not be used and will be off limits to students.  Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized following district standards.
  • 3 people maximum on any one piece of equipment.
  • State social distancing recommendations should be followed when possible. All safety precautions for certain activities and lifts will be followed even if it requires not following the required social distancing.
  • A spotter will always be permitted to safely spot. Spotting should take place on both ends of the bar.
  • Equipment should be disinfected between each use. 
  • Hydrating bottles, towels, gloves, or any other personal equipment should not be shared.
  • Water fountains in the weight room areas should be shut off.  Students will need to bring their own water bottles.
  • Coaches or other supervisory adults must wear a mask or cloth face covering.

Gym/Indoor Facility:

  • Handwashing procedures should be used before and after workouts.
  • One restroom at each site will be designated for use. Locker rooms will not be used and will be off limits to students.  Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized following district standards.
  • State social distancing recommendations should be followed when possible.  All safety precautions for certain activities and lifts will be followed even if it requires not following the required social distancing.
  • Equipment should be disinfected between each use.
  • Hydrating bottles, towels, gloves, or other personal equipment should not be shared.
  • Water fountains in the gyms and weight rooms should be shut off. Students will need to bring their own water bottles.
  • No scrimmaging or one-on-one.
  • Coaches or other supervisory adults must wear a mask or cloth face covering.

Outdoors:

  • Handwashing procedures should be used before and after workouts.
  • One restroom will be designated for use.  Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized following district standards.
  • State social distancing recommendations will be followed when possible. All safety precautions for certain activities and lifts will be followed even if it requires not following the required social distancing.
  • Equipment should be disinfected between each use.
  • Students will provide their own water bottles.
  • Hydrating bottles, towels, gloves, or any other equipment should not be shared.
  • Coaches or other supervisory adults must wear a mask or cloth face covering.

Note: Dead Period:  June 27, 2020 through July 5, 2020.  If the dead period is waived by the OSSAA Board Phase II will begin on June 29.

Phase II:         July 6 - July 31, 2020.

July 15, 2020  

Unrestricted practice may begin for fast-pitch,    volleyball, cross country, and other OSSAA non-athletic activities.

  • Camps and clinics may begin if they have been approved and sanctioned by the OSSAA.
  • Activity specific instructions may begin, strength and conditioning is permitted following all of the phase I safety precautions.
  • State social distancing recommendations will be followed when possible. All safety precautions for certain activities and lifts will be followed even if it requires not following the required social distancing
  • Tryouts are permitted.
  • Handwashing procedures should be used before and after workouts.
  • Equipment should be disinfected appropriately due to use.
  • Hydrating bottles, towels, gloves, or any other personal equipment should not be shared.

Phase III:         August 1, 2020

  • Activities conducted under OSSAA guidelines without the exceptions listed above.
  • COVID safety procedures will be revised following the CDC and/or State guidelines as possible.
