Congratulations to Blayden Nichols and Jacob Gorton!
We're so proud to share that Blayden and Jacob were both inducted into the National Technical Honor Society at Tulsa Tech this past Friday! To earn this prestigious recognition, students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate exemplary attendance, and receive a recommendation from their instructor.

Today is the last day!!!

Yesterday, the Skiatook Band earned the highest honor awarded by the state of Oklahoma and OSSAA—a Sweepstakes Award. This marks the first time the band has earned a Sweepstakes since 2016. Achieving this honor is no easy task; the band must receive a plurality of Division I (Superior) ratings in regional marching contests, district large ensemble, district sight reading, state large ensemble, and state sight reading. This rigorous process begins at the start of the school year and culminates with the final performance, which took place yesterday. The Sweepstakes Award is a testament to excellence in all aspects of the band program.

Mrs. Irving's chemistry students are using ice to boil water! This experiment is a great way to reinforce key concepts like vapor pressure and boiling point.

ACT/State Testing Reminder for 11th grade students!!!!

On March 14th, our students in Mrs. Abbott's Algebra II and Geometry classes celebrated Pi Day. They spent their class time working through fun puzzles and challenges, all based on the number and symbol of Pi. Of course, no Pi Day celebration is complete without a delicious treat, and the snacks were a sweet bonus to the lesson!

Forensic science students had a hands-on learning experience using a method that's vital in crime scene investigations. They explored how bloodstain patterns can reveal crucial details about a crime. By carefully placing strings through bloodstains, they determined the angle of impact where blood was forcefully ejected from a body. Using trigonometry calculations, they not only figured out the point of impact but also identified the area of origin.

Seniors in Mrs. Hoy’s class just completed their senior research project. The students were able to choose any topic to research and had to provide reliable sources with correctly formatted citations. They have been presenting slideshows in class, and yesterday they were able to show off their poster boards to their peers!

Anatomy students used an improvised spirometer to measure their tidal lung capacity. By pushing air into a volumetric bottle, they compared their results to the known normal values. A great way to see respiratory theory in action!

Botany Students in Action!
Our botany students are busy separating worms from the compost, saving them for another round! The vermicompost will be put to good use in our garden beds this spring.
